The workshop kicked off with Dr. Wong introducing students to the exciting world of smart textiles, where fashion intersects with cutting-edge technology. Through lively demonstrations, students discovered how electronic circuits and polymeric optical fibers (POF) could apply into fashion.

After mastering the basics, students turned to Vogue Runway for inspiration. As they browsed designer collections, Dr. Wong emphasized how research work is important in creating the design. He then guided them through sketching techniques, reassuring students that compelling designs rely more on handcraft skills than perfect illustration skills. Simple lines and shapes, he showed, could effectively communicate even the most advanced smart fashion concepts.

By afternoon, students experimented freely with materials, testing how circuits could enhance their emerging ideas. Some focused on wearables that responded to movement, while others explored aesthetic possibilities with illuminated textiles. The energy was palpable as initial sketches gradually evolved into tangible prototypes.
As Day 1 wrapped up, it was clear the students had fully embraced this fusion of technology and design. With their newfound skills and inspiration, they left eager to refine their concepts for Day 2's deep dive into prototyping. The foundation was set for some truly innovative wearable tech creations.
